Children and Young People

Children and Young People

We love welcoming children and young people to our church

To the parents of our young children, may we suggest...

Relax! God put the wiggle in children; don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. All are welcome!

Sit toward the front where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what’s going on at the altar. At St Michael's there is also a children's area at the back of the church with books and toys.

If you have to leave the service with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.”

Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship.

Don’t worry if they make a noise, we’d rather have a noisy church than a silent one!

ALIVE

At St Michael's on the first Sunday of each month at 10.30 am we have our Alive Group in the Church Hall. This is a time of stories, games and crafts for little ones aged from around 2-7 (but this is flexible). It lasts for the duration of the service, so feel free to stay with them or head into the church for the service instead.

It is run by Laura Smith who has a background in child development and teaching and is a trained Godly Play storyteller.

MESSY CHURCH

St Michael's Messy Church runs every other month in the Church Hall. It is always on a Friday from 3:15 - 5:30 pm, although families don’t have to stay for the whole time.

For the details about the next Messy Church, have a look at our Coming Soon page.

RISE

Rise Youth Group, for ages 10-18, is about faith, friendship and fun. So far the group have competed in a games night, bounced on the inflatables at Mini May Camp and taken on the challenge of LaserTag.

We hope to meet up with other young Christians from across the Diocese at the annual May Camp and then investigate a week-long camp in Norfolk at the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage in August.

Meetings take place every other month on the 4th Saturday and involve food!
